Why is this Agrylin medication prescribed?
Agrylin/Anagrelide is used to decrease the number of platelets in the blood of patients whose platelet count is too high. This Agrylin medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or Agrylin pharmacist for more Agrylin information.
How should this Agrylin medicine be used?
Agrylin/Anagrelide comes as a capsule. Agrylin is usually taken two to four times a day. It is best to take Agrylin/anagrelide on an empty stomach. Follow the Agrylin directions on your Agrylin prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or Agrylin pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Agrylin/anagrelide exactly as directed.
Continue to take Agrylin/anagrelide even if you feel well. Do not stop taking Agrylin/anagrelide without talking to your doctor.
What special Agrylin precautions should I follow?
Before taking Agrylin/anagrelide,
tell your doctor and Agrylin pharmacist if you are allergic to Agrylin/anagrelide or any other drugs.
tell your doctor and Agrylin pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking, especially sucralfate (Carafate) and vitamins.
tell your doctor if you have or have ever had a blood disorder; high or low blood pressure; or heart, liver, or kidney disease.
tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Agrylin/anagrelide, call your doctor immediately. You should not take this medication if you are pregnant and you should not become pregnant while you are taking Agrylin/anagrelide.
if you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking Agrylin/anagrelide.
What side effects can this Agrylin medication cause?
Although side effects from Agrylin/anagrelide are not common, they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these Agrylin symptoms are severe or do not go away:
gas
upset stomach
vomiting
diarrhea
stomach pain
headache
runny nose
lack of energy
dizziness
depression
weakness
muscle or back pain
If you experience any of the following Agrylin symptoms, call your doctor immediately:
rash
chest pain
fast or irregular heartbeats
swelling of the lower legs or ankles
difficulty breathing
seizures
fever
flu-like symptoms
changes in vision
ringing in the ears
What storage conditions are needed for Agrylin?
Keep Agrylin in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store Agrylin at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any Agrylin medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Talk to your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your Agrylin medication.
What should I do if I forget a Agrylin dose?
Take the missed Agrylin dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next Agrylin dose, skip the missed Agrylin dose and continue your regular Agrylin dosing schedule. Do not take a double Agrylin dose to make up for a missed one.

In case of Agrylin emergency/overdose
In case of Agrylin overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.
