Why is Crestor prescribed?
CRESTOR is a prescription medication for use in lowering high cholesterol. In clinical studies, Crestor was generally well-tolerated. The most common Crestor side effects are muscle pain, constipation, weakness, stomach pain and nausea. These are usually mild and tend to go away. Your doctor will do blood tests before and during treatment with CRESTOR to monitor your liver function. Tell your doctor if you are taking any medications, including cyclosporine, warfarin, gemfibrozil or antacids. CRESTOR is not right for everyone, including women who are nursing, pregnant, or who may become pregnant, or anyone with liver problems. Unexplained muscle pain and weakness could be a sign of a rare but serious side effect and should be reported to your doctor right away. CRESTOR has not been determined to prevent heart disease, heart attacks, or strokes.
Take CRESTOR once a day. You can take Crestor anytime — morning, noon or evening. Try to take Crestor at the same time every day so you do not forget to take a Crestor dose
If you miss your Crestor dose, do not take two doses at the same time. Instead, skip your missed Crestor dose and return to your usual schedule on the next day
Swallow each tablet whole with a glass of water. You can take CRESTOR with or without food
While taking CRESTOR, it is important that you keep following a diet low in saturated fat. Medicine can't do the job all by itself — you will still need to eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly to achieve your cholesterol goals
Your doctor will decide the dose of CRESTOR that is right for you. Never try to change your dose on your own. Take CRESTOR for as long as your doctor prescribes. Do not stop taking the Crestor medicine unless your doctor tells you to or if you become pregnant
Is CRESTOR right for you?
Do not take CRESTOR if you:
Currently have liver disease or liver problems
Are pregnant, could become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking CRESTOR, stop taking the medicine and call your doctor right away
Are hypersensitive to CRESTOR or any component of this product
Are there any drug interactions I need to know about while taking CRESTOR?
As with other statin medicines that lower cholesterol, there is a chance of having a drug interaction while taking CRESTOR if you are also taking other medicines such as:
-Cyclosporine (Sandimmune® , Neoral® ), a medicine with multiple uses, including use after organ transplants or for rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis
-A blood thinner called warfarin (Coumadin®)
-Certain types of other medicines that lower cholesterol, such as gemfibrozil (Lopid® ), clofibrate (Atromid-S®), fenofibrate (Tricor®), and niacin (Niaspan® , Niacor®)
-Antacids
While you are taking CRESTOR, do not start taking any of these medicines without checking with your doctor first. If you do not know whether you are taking any of these medicines, always check with your doctor or pharmacist.

In case of Crestor overdose, call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing, call local emergency services at 911.
What storage conditions are needed for Crestor?
Keep Crestor in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store Crestor at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any Crestor medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Talk to your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your Crestor medication.
What should I do if I forget a Crestor dose?
Take the missed Crestor dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next Crestor dose, skip the missed Crestor dose and continue your regular Crestor dosing schedule. Do not take a double Crestor dose to make up for a missed one.
