The following information is a summary about Prinivil. It is not intended to replace a doctor's instructions.

Why is this Prinivil medication prescribed?

Prinivil/Lisinopril is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. Prinivil decreases certain chemicals that tighten the blood vessels, so blood flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently.

This Prinivil medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or Prinivil pharmacist for more Prinivil information.

How should this Prinivil medicine be used?

Prinivil/Lisinopril comes as a tablet to take by mouth. Prinivil is usually taken once a day. Follow the Prinivil directions on your Prinivil prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or Prinivil pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Prinivil/lisinopril exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of Prinivil or take Prinivil more often than prescribed by your doctor.

Prinivil/Lisinopril controls high blood pressure and heart failure but does not cure them. Continue to take Prinivil/lisinopril even if you feel well. Do not stop taking Prinivil/lisinopril without talking to your doctor.
